Today, I stepped out of my comfort zone.  Hubby and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day in any typical way.  I do love a good note - he's excellent at writing them and I've treasured all our emails and cards that traveled distances before and while we were engaged.  But usually, we're pretty happy with a quiet evening at home and time together. Given that he was on call this weekend, I reallly didn't have any expectations.

But, at some point on Sunday afternon I found a card laying on my side of the bed with a sweet note that I read a number of times.  And included in it was a gift card to a local spa for an expectant mother package.  I do have a little bit of a tradition of indulging in a pedicure before my deliveries.  (Who wants to look at tired feet while pushing?)  And at almost 37 weeks, I was good with that.  And a facial.. well, that does sound nice.  And a massage... ummmm -- I am ridiculously modest, so I don't do well at all with the thought of a stranger giving me a massage.  And yes, hubby is well aware but he insisted and I can't believe he found this place and the time to go get the gift card, so on and so on.  Knowing me, he insisted that I go get it today since he would be post-call and home in the afternoon to watch the kiddos.  So, I did it and it was really lovely - not to mention it was a few hours to myself.  Best pedicure ever, despite the fact that Naoko does not believe in painting pregnant lady toes.  Shiatsu massage was intense and relaxing and my face is happy.  :)

And I have to say that I am proud of myself for being a big girl and going!

Good for you:) I've turned down many of offers my husband has made in setting up an appointment to get a massage. After my last pregnancy, I told him he can set one up every month when I'm pregnant. Do you know if it's another boy or a girl?

Good for you! I have to admit, Im totally the same way. I STILL have the gift card for the "spa" that MOPS presented me with 2 years ago. I did go in to check it out but only bought some nailpolishes and a necklace. I still have enough left for a massage or something. Im just too shy. Youre inspiring me to get over it and go!
Love you and miss you,
